I thought that I would share some of the latest drawings from my sketch book as there are a few that you haven’t seen so far.  I have been busy, but had computer and fatigue problems so I have not been posting much. Now I have a lovely new laptop, that I have almost finished bonding with, so I hope to catch you up.

As you can see from the first picture I have added another winter vege drawing, I think this one could be my favourite so far, the colours of the peas really pop against the subtle background.  All my practice over the last few years has really helped, I find that I am much quicker at drawing now and I find it easier to get the results I want.  Working on that 1,000 hours of practice to become proficient.

As I mentioned before there are a few pages that I have not shared with you and here is some medieval drawing I did.  I love to listen to books while I draw and I subscribe to Audible (part of amazon) for my books.  They have a great series called ‘The Great Courses’ which are a wide range of courses given by university lecturers.  I find them really fascinating and interesting, plus I learn a little bit more each time.  I love history and I have been listening to courses on the middle ages and this inspired my to do the following drawings.  The first one is of medieval tiles from various cathedrals, while the second is my design using these patterns.

The last page I have to share is the finished page of the Artichoke.  You saw it in an earlier post unfinished so I thought you might like to see it finished.  The bottom of the artichoke did not work out so well and you can see I was trying out different versions of the background, but I think it will be redone in my series of winter veg that I am working on now.

I will be posting a bit more often in the next little while because I have still not caught you up with all I have been doing.  I have had enough energy to keep the art work going but not enough to keep up with the posting.

  1. It must be annoying not having the energy you require to achieve everything you want…but I guess you’ve learned to pace yourself and simply do what you can. And I must say, I LOVE what you’ve been consuming your energy WITH. The Medieval Tiles Journal Page is my favourite. I could really imagine that woven into heavy cloth. Fabulous imaginative work!!

    • Thanks Julie, with many years experience I cope, but it is frustrating! But there are worse things so can’t complain. The medieval pages were fun and something different from my usual work.

  2. Wow, gorgeous medieval sketches.

    • Thanks Rebecca,I hope you enjoyed your tour of my blog, it is always so exciting to get that many ‘likes’. The medieval work was fun, I love that era and the earlier Celtic art. Always good to go off and do something completely different. Karen
